Kate Hamilton is back in her second mystery. Set in England this time, Kate has come to Finchley Hall to spend 2 weeks with daughter Christine and new love Tom, a local DCI. The Hall is known for a history of murder, but when a young woman is found dead, Kate in drawn into an investigation that soon comes to close to those she loves.
This is the first book I have read by this author, and I really enjoyed it. This was a good story with an intriguing plot. I was able to, quite easily, determine the murderer and motive, but that never bothers me when the book is well written…I keep reading and confirm my theory. With the exception of the young love/jealousy story, all of the subplots fit in naturally and added nicely to the story…providing red herrings galore.
One thing…not a biggie though…is that the story went on just a tad bit too long (I think due to the young love subplot) and could have been tied up several chapters earlier.
My thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the advanced reader copy of this book made available for my review.
